The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team dropped a WIAC dual meet to University-Wisconsin Eau Claire, 21-19.

Sophomores shine for UW-Platteville in loss to Eau Claire

WHEATON, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team dropped a WIAC dual meet to University-Wisconsin Eau Claire, 21-19.

The visiting Pioneers got a major decision (10-1) from sophomore Scott Arneson (133), while freshman Nicholas Retzlaff (157) won his match 6-5. Sophomore Jon Goetz (174) won his match 5-1, while classmate Grant Wedepohl (184) collected a pin in his match. Sophomore D'Andre Johnson (285) won his match 8-4, but the Pioneers ultimately fell short of the win.

The Pioneers will need to rebound as the WIAC tournament looms this Friday. UW-Platteville hosts the WIAC Championships. The tournament starts at noon on Friday, Feburary 10th
