Freshman Grant Wedepohl stole the show with his win over the No. 2 seed in the 184-weight class, handing his opponent just his second loss of the entire season. Wedpohl made it the farthest of the Pioneers, competing in the quarterfinal match where he fell by a 2-0 decision to his UW-La Crosse opponent, finishing 24-7 overall on the season.
Senior Cole Ferguson also earned a win in his weight class, beating his Delaware Valley University opponent 6-2 in the first round of the 125-weight class consolation bracket after losing to the would-be seventh place finisher from Ithaca in the first round.
Senior Mason Bohm and freshmen Jon Goetz and D'Andre Johnson also competed at the championships, but were eliminated after losing twice to highly ranked wrestlers in their respective weight classes.
Overall, the Pioneers went 4-5 on the season and finished within the top 10 of nearly every tournament they competed in. With the young group being successful this season, the Pioneers look forward to a strong foundation heading into the 2016-17 season.
