Pioneer Wrestling downs Titans

OSHKOSH, Wis. – Aaric Spencer, Cody Meyer and Brandon Boyle tallied pins to lead the University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team past UW-Oshkosh, 29-13, on Wednesday at Kolf Sports Center.
The Pioneers began their night with a major decision victory by Zach Stenger at 125 pounds and then used a 2-0 win by Cole Ferguson at 133 pounds to take a 7-0 lead.
Spencer pinned Derek Hermanson in 49 seconds at 165 pounds to give the Pioneers a 13-6 lead.
Meyer managed to pin Michael Berg at 6:47 mark at 174 pounds to extend the Pioneers lead to 19-6.
Trenton Larson shutout Korey Kleinhams, 9-0, at 184 pounds to push the Pioneer lead to 23-10.
Boyle capped off the night with a pin over Matt Veneskey at 285 pounds at 2:43.
The Pioneers will split up their squad on Saturday with the starters competing at the Chuck Porter Duals hosted by Knox College and the rest of the team will compete at the Flash Flanagan Open in Dubuque, Iowa.
