UW-Platteville’s T.J. Wunnicke Earns No. 8 Seed at Upcoming NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships
For the seventh-straight year, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville will be represented at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championship. The Pioneer wrestling program will be represented by junior T.J. Wunnicke from Dodgeville.
Wunnicke has received the No. 8 seed and enters the tournament with a 30-5 overall record and 26-3 mark against Division III competition. He leads all Division III competitors with 22 pins. His first match on Friday will be the winner of the bout between Joseph Schwartz of Wesleyan (CT) and Jeremy Jones of Ohio Northern.
This year's meet will be held Friday-Saturday, March 9-10 at the La Crosse Center in downtown La Crosse. Action begins on Friday, March 9 at 11 a.m. with the preliminary rounds one and two (six mats) followed by consolation first (six mats). The next session gets started Friday, March 9 at 6 p.m. with the championship quarterfinals (six mats) and consolation second and third rounds (six mats).
Session III begins Saturday, March 10 at 10 a.m. with the championship semifinals and consolation quarterfinals (four mats) along with the consolation semifinals (four mats) and consolation places matches for third, fifth and seventh-place (three mats). The championship finals in Session IV starts Saturday, March 10 at 7 p.m. (one mat).
