Pioneers earn second WIAC victory

The Pioneers improve to 8-9 overall and 2-4 WIAC while the Pointers fall to 5-12 overall and 1-5 WIAC.
At halftime, the Pioneers led 37-32 but they quickly turned that into a 20-point lead by the end of the third quarter. The Pioneers shot 56.3 percent (9-of-16) from the field in the third quarter while the Pointers shot just 27.2 percent (3-of-11). The Pointers made a small run in the fourth quarter but the Pioneer lead was too big.
Junior Morgan Horstman and sophomore Caitlyn Tipton each had a game-high 18 points. Horstman shot 7-of-10 from the field, 3-of-4 from 3-point range and added five rebounds and three steals. Tipton made all four of her shots from the field, including one 3-pointer, made 9-of-10 free throws and chipped in six assists and two steals.
The Pioneers travel to face UW-Whitewater on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m.
