Pioneers lose in final minute

The Pioneers took a 52-51 lead with 2:31 remaining in the game when senior Lexis Macomber knocked down two free throws. The Pioneers held onto that lead until there were 49 seconds remaining and Dani Craig hit a 3-pointer to give the Eagles a 54-52 lead. The Eagles knocked down three more free throws to seal the win.
The Pioneers dominated the game inside and had a 24-10 advantage on points in the paint. The Eagles won the battle from behind the 3-point and free throw lines. The Eagles had 10 3-pointers and the Pioneers had four. From the free throw line, the Eagles shot 86.6 percent (13-of-15) while the Pioneers shot 57.1 (8-of-14).
Junior Morgan Horstman led the team in scoring with 13 points on 46.2 percent shooting (6-of-13). Sophomore Maiah Domask scored 12 points and added 13 rebounds (7 offensive).
The Pioneers travel to face UW-River Falls on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m.
