The University of Wisconsin-Platteville played the number four team in the country tough, but let a fourth quarter lead slip away for a 55-58 loss to Wartburg. The Pioneers (2-4) held a 43-37 after the third, but were outscored 21-12 in the final quarter.
UW-Platteville held a strong Knights (5-0) offense to just 26.4% shooting on the afternoon, and the 58 points is the least given up by a Wartburg opponent this season. The Pioneers also had a 36-30 advantage on the boards, including 15 offensive rebounds.
Amber Williams had a career high 12 points and recorded her first career double-double with 10 rebounds. Maiah Domask finished two points shy of her second consecutive double-double with 10 rebounds and 8 points. Jalen Knowlten added 9 points for the Pioneers and Blaire Lutes had 8.
Wartburg's Katie Sommer led all scorers with 16 and had 8 rebounds.
The UW-Platteville women travel to Carroll University Wednesday, Dec. 6 for a matchup of the Pioneers. Game time is 7 p.m. in Van Male Fieldhouse.
