Four Pioneers Garner Postseason Accolades

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released its postseason awards for women's basketball on Feb. 4 and four Pioneers received recognition from the league.

Alyssa Krajco capped off a stellar Pioneer career with her best season, and was voted as a repeat member of the first team all-conference squad. Krajco, a senior from Richland Center, Wis. was second in the WIAC in scoring at 17.5ppg, led the league in rebounding at 7.9rpg, and her field goal percentage of 47.1 percent was good for sixth best. She finished the year with 456 points, which is sixth best in Pioneer history, and her 1,237 career points places her fourth all-time. She is one of three Pioneers ever to play in more than 100 games, and she joins an exclusive club of six Pioneers to receive multiple first team WIAC honors.

Krajco is joined on the first team by Stacy Clark, a senior from Riverside, Iowa.  Clark was third in the league in scoring at 13.7 ppg, eighth in field goal percentage (45.6 percent) and was ninth in free throw percentage, hitting 80 percent from the line. Clark finishes her career as one of the most efficient shooters in Pioneer history, setting a new program record for career field goal percentage at 49.7 percent. She trails only current Pioneer coach Lisa Naderman in career free throw percentage.  She also holds the ninth best single season in scoring, and joins Krajco as one of only six Pioneers to receive multiple first team WIAC honors.

Joining her teammates on the all-conference squad as an honorable mention honoree is Rachel Cropp, a senior from Verona, Wis.  This is Cropp's second year on the honorable mention team as she led the league with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.29, was fourth in assists per game at 4.08 and seventh in three-point field goal percentage (32.7 percent). Cropp also ranked 28 nationally with her assist-to-turnover ratio. She joins Krajco in becoming only one-of-three Pioneers to play in more than 100 games, and her 106 assists makes her only one-of-four Pioneers to distribute more than 100 assists in a single season.

The final member of the Pioneers to receive All Conference honors was Taylor Lorbiecki, a junior from Verona, Wis. Lorbiecki ranked second in the league with 4.35apg, and also ranked second with her 2.16 assist-to-turnover ratio, second only to Cropp. Lorbiecki's 113 assists is good for third all-time in Pioneer history for a single season, and puts her in an elite group of four Pioneers to break the century mark for assists in a single season. 

Along with Cropp and the rest of her Pioneer teammates, the Pioneers were able to shatter the single season turnover average, limiting themselves to 12.9 turnovers-per-game, which is good for eighth best in Division III.

The Pioneers ended the year with a fourth place finish in the WIAC for the second season in a row, a feat which has been accomplished only one other time in program history, and earned  a WIAC tournament game in Williams Field House for the first time ever. The Pioneers will honor these award winners at a season ending honors banquet on campus, April 10.
