Pioneers take down Warhawks on the road
The UW-Platteville women’s basketball team traveled to UW-Whitewater on Jan. 28 to defeat the Warhawks 59-55.

WHITEWATER, Wis.-- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's basketball team traveled to UW-Whitewater on Jan. 28 to defeat the Warhawks 59-55.
Senior forward Alyssa Krajco led all scorers and rebounders with 18 points and 16 boards. Krajco scored 14 of her 18 points in the second half. Classmate Keeley Schulz added 17 points, while senior Stacy Clark netted 14.
The Pioneers were behind almost the entire first half until a few missed shots by the Warhawks and a made jump-shot by senior forward Clark, brought the Pioneers up by one, 17-16.
A pair of layups by Krajco and Clark, followed by a Warhawk three-pointer, sent the Pioneers into the locker room with a 29-27 lead.
The largest lead of the second half came at the 5:38 mark with the Pioneers up by eight, 52-44.
The Warhawks rallied to bring the game within one with 50 seconds remaining, but another Krajco basket, followed by a pair of free-throws from junior guard Taylor Lorbiecki sealed the game for the Pioneers, 59-55.
The Pioneers will make the long trip to UW-Superior on Jan. 31 to take on the Yellowjackets.
