Pioneers compete at UW-Whitewater's Drake Alternative Meet
Whitewater, Wis. – The Pioneers competed at the Drake Alternative Meet at UW-Whitewater on Saturday, April 24. Brianna Leahy extended her school record to 14.55m (47-9) and several more Pioneers saw personal bests in their events. Teams in attendance include UW-Whitewater, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Oshkosh, University of Chicago, University of Dubuque, and Carthage College.

Brianna Leahy extended her school record to 14.55m (47-9) and several more Pioneers saw personal bests in their events. Pioneer Women
In the shot put, Brianna Leahy won the event with another school-record-breaking throw. Leahy threw 14.55m (47-9) on her second throw of the day. Earlier in the meet, teammate Paulina Wienke threw 45.01m (147-8) in the hammer throw, taking third place in the event.
Jordan Meciej took second in the pole vault clearing 3.42m (11-2.5), matching her personal best. Casey Rielly took seventh place clearing 3.27m (10-8.75). In the long jump, Lexie Healey finished with a jump of 5.00m (16-5) for seventh place.
Running a personal best in the 3,000m steeplechase, Kirstie Ramsey ran for sixth place to cross the finish line in 11:45.05. Samantha Meyer ran a personal best in the 5,000m run and broke 19:00 for the first time. She crossed the finish line in 18:53.85.
Casey Rielly and Kayla Lipsey qualified for the 100m hurdles final. Lipsey ran a personal best of 17.53 seconds. Lipsey also ran a personal best time in the 100m dash, clocking 13.13 seconds.
In the 1500m, Caitlyn Gorge finished with a personal best time of 5:00.87. Teammate Kaitlyn Galgon ran a small personal best time in the 800m run. Galgon took second place with a time of 2:16.15.
Pioneer Men
Winning the hammer throw, Alexander Walechka threw a personal best of 55.90m (183-5). Justin Eichler also threw a personal best, marking 52.78m (173-2).
In the high jump, freshman Daniel Inyang won the event with a jump at 1.95m (6-4.75), matching his personal best.
Kyle VanDenBusch threw 40.39m (132-60 in the javelin to place fourth. Noah Nouansacksy finished in sixth place with a throw of 39.49m (129-7).
The 4x100m relay comprised of Cole Stugelmeyer, Jacob Downing, Josh Katers, and Cade VanHout ran 41.83 seconds to take fourth in the event.
Stugelmeyer also ran a personal best time in the 110m hurdles, clocking 15.05 seconds. Jacob Rice ran a personal best as well, 15.37 seconds. In the 200m dash, Downing ran 22.53 seconds to take ninth place.
Running a small personal best in the 400m dash, Ryan Cherry finished in 52.31 seconds. In the 400m hurdles, Ryan Beckley ran 1:00.78 to set a personal best.
Freshman Jeffrey Smolinski ran a personal best time of 1:58.58 in the 800m run as did teammates Zach Flitsch and Tyler Doering. Flitsch ran 1:58.78, and Doering ran 2:00.34.
