Gwen Orr breaks 100m school record
Whitewater, Wis. – The Pioneers competed at the Rex Foster Twilight Meet at UW-Whitewater on Friday, April 2, 2021. Gwen Orr breaks the 100m dash school record, and several other Pioneers make advances on the Pioneer All-Time Top-Ten List.
Whitewater, Wis. – The Pioneers competed at the Rex Foster Twilight Meet at UW-Whitewater on Friday, April 2, 2021. Teams in attendance included UW-Oshkosh, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Whitewater, MSOE, and Wheaton.
PIONEER WOMEN
Setting a new school record in the 100m dash, Gwen Orr ran a new personal best time of 12.37 seconds. Orr took down the record set by Mary Johnson in 2005. Also running a personal best in the 200m dash, Orr won the event with a time of 25.51 seconds.
Kirstie Ramsey finished in fifth place in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 12:42.69. Taking third in the 1500m, Kaitlyn Galgon ran 4:56.65 to set a new personal best time. Caitlin Gorge took 11th place of the nearly 40 women in the event, running 5:10.73.
Jessica Buss took third place in the 400m dash, chasing down her time at 1:04.42.
In the long jump, Grace Elvert and Alexis Healey paired up to take fourth and fifth place with jumps of 5.12m (16-9.75) and 5.00m (16-5) respectively.
Paulina Wienke threw for fourth place in the discus, marking 35.92m (117-10). Brianna Leahy finished in eighth place in the discus with a toss of 34.75m (114-0). Leahy finished in third place in the shot put, marking 12.87m (42-2.75). Wienke took ninth place in the shot put, marking 11.43m (37-6). In the hammer throw, Jackie Bergschultz threw 37.43m (122-10), Wienke threw 36.11m (118-6), and Paige Taylor threw 31.97m (104-11); all near personal bests.
PIONEER MEN
The 4x100m relay team of Dane Adams, Jacob Downing, Josh Katers, and Cade VanHout teamed up to take second place with a time of 43.00 seconds. VanHout went on to take third in the 100m dash, running a time of 10.73 seconds to get a new personal record. He won the 200m dash, running 22.45 seconds.
Cole Stugelmeyer ran a personal best in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.22 seconds.
Riley Coulter finished in 11th place in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:14.73. Caleb Christiansen finished in seventh place in the 1500m, finishing with a time of 4:13.39.
The 4x400m relay consisting of Jacob Rice, Joey Madsen, Ryan Cherry, and Sean Komro finished in 3:34.14.
Taking fourth in the long jump, Adam Wildman marked 6.70m (21-11.75). Owen Miller took tenth with a jump of 6.24m (20-5.75). In the triple jump, Weston Pink marked a jump of 13.95m (45-9.25).
Jacob Erickson cleared 4.03m (13-2.5) in the pole vault to set a new personal best in outdoor season.
In the high jump, Bryce Bierman won the event with a clearance of 1.98m (6-6). Freshman Daniel Inyang cleared 1.88m (6-2) to set a personal best.
Alexander Walechka won the hammer throw, making his way up the Pioneer All-Time Top-Ten List. Walechka threw 54.88m (180-1) to establish a new personal best. Justin Eichler also threw a personal best, finishing in seventh place with a throw of 50.01m (164-1). Ben Veverka finished in ninth place in the shot put, marking 12.66m (41-6.5). Eichler marked 12.40m (40-8.25) in the shot put, placing 11th.
Winning the javelin throw, Jacob Rice threw 53.65m (176). Erickson and Zach Schell took ninth and 11th place, with personal best throws of 36.30m (126) and 38.42m (119-1) respectively.
The Pioneers will return to the track at Williams Fieldhouse on April 10, hosting the UW-Platteville Invitational.
