Pioneers gain momentum to close indoor track and field season
Whitewater, Wis. – The Pioneers competed in one last regular season dual against the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater Warhawks. In anticipation for the last indoor meet of the season, Pioneers were chasing down opportunities to see personal bests, but also rank in the top 12 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). The top 12 student-athletes in each event on the performance list will be competing at one last meet at UW-Whitewater to give a finale to the unusual 2021 indoor track and field season.

In anticipation for the last indoor meet of the season, Pioneers were chasing down opportunities to see personal bests, but also rank in the top 12 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). The top 12 student-athletes in each event on the performance list will be competing at one last meet at UW-Whitewater to give a finale to the unusual 2021 indoor track and field season.
PIONEER WOMEN
In the final heat of the 60m dash, Gwen Orr ran a season best time of 7.99 seconds to win, which ties for ninth on the WIAC performance list. Katie Schilling ran a personal best time in the 200m dash to finish in second place, clocking 27.52 seconds.
Winning the event, Kaitlyn Galgon ran 1:00.38 in her first collegiate indoor 400m dash. This time ranks fourth on the WIAC performance list.
Kirstie Ramsey, Jessica Buss, and Caitlin Gorge ran personal bests in the 800m run. Ramsey finished in first with a time of 2:25.54, Buss followed in 2:27.65 and Gorge in 2:30.25.
During the triple jump, Kelli Schneider executed a jump that marked 10.55m (34-7.5) to earn a new personal best. Schneider ranks tied for 13th in the triple jump among the WIAC.
Once again, hitting a new personal best in the weight throw, Paulina Wienke took second place with a throw of 14.77m (48-5.5). Wienke ranks in at ninth among the WIAC performance list.
PIONEER MEN
Cade VanHout moved onto the Pioneer All-Time Top-Ten List, finishing the 60m dash in 7.08 for third place. VanHout went on to win the 200m dash in 23.26. Teammate Josh Katers took second place with a personal best time of 23.49.
In the final heat of the 60m hurdles, Cole Stugelmeyer tied his personal best time of 8.53 seconds to win the event. Stugelmeyer ranks tied for seventh on the WIAC performance list after today.
In the 800m, Jason Voelker took fourth place with a season best time of 2:00.23. Zach Flitsch was close to follow with a time of 2:00.95.
Adam Wildman established a new personal best mark in the long jump, marking a jump 6.75m (22-1.75). After today, Wildman is tied for eighth on the WIAC performance list.
Ben Veverka threw personal bests in both the weight throw and the shot put. Veverka marked a throw of 16.76m (55-0) in the weight throw, and 14.86m (48-9) in the shot put. Each of these marks rank him seventh in the WIAC in the respective event.
Justin Eichler threw a personal best in the weight throw, 15.84m (51-11.75). However, his shot put mark of 14.52m (47-7.75) from the Point-Platteville Dual #2 ranks him in eighth among the WIAC.
