LaMere, Williams, and Young earn top Regional Honors
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) awarded Ian LaMere and Amber Williams Midwest Regional Athlete of the Year awards while Coach Andres Young earned the Midwest Regional Assistant Coach of the Year award.

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) awarded Ian LaMere and Amber Williams Midwest Regional Athlete of the Year awards while Coach Andres Young earned the Midwest Regional Assistant Coach of the Year award.
During the season, LaMere broke the Division III record in the 10,000m at the Sanford Invitational with a time of 23:38.63. LaMere came back a few weeks later to break the Pioneer's school record in the 5,000m with a time of 14:19.08. During the WIAC Championships LaMere won both the 10,000m and 5,000m in commanding fashion to score 20 points for the Pioneers. LaMere is entered to compete in both events at this year's NCAA Championships.
Williams set school record in the long jump and the triple jump during the 2016 season. Williams won the long jump and finished second in the triple jump and high jump during the WIAC Championships, scoring 26 points for the Pioneers in the field events alone. Williams heads into the national meet tied with the best long jump mark and with the third best triple jump mark of the season. Williams will compete in the triple jump, long jump and 4x400m relay during this weekend's National Championships.
Coach Young guided the hurdlers, pole vaulters and javelin throwers to three first place finishes and two second place finishes at the WIAC Championships. Hurdler Dan Arnold broke the WIAC record in the 110m Hurdles on his way to the title. In the pole vault, Garrett Riggs initially broke the school record but finished second to teammate's Matt Dwyer's 17-foot winning clearance. Riggs also finished second in the Javelin with teammate Evan Rossing claiming the title. Arnold, Dwyer and Riggs will be competing at the NCAA Championships this weekend.
