Two Pioneers earn All-American honors in day 1 of NCAA Championships
Two school record were broken and two all-american honors were awarded to the Pioneers on the first day of the NCAA Indoor Track Championships.

Dan Arnold competed in the preliminary round of the 60 meter hurdles. Arnold won the first heat, automatically qualifying to Saturday's finals, with a school record and facility record time of 7.90 seconds. Defending national champion Luke Campbell from Salisbury came back in the second heat and responded with a 7.88 run to claim the facility record from Arnold. The two hurdlers will meet in the finals Saturday afternoon. Arnold's time ties the all-time best time for a WIAC runner and places him 4th in the NCAA all-time best list.
Later in the day, Matt Dwyer competed in the pole vault. Clearing 16-3.75 (5.00 meters), Dwyer was able to secure 5th place,the highest finish ever for a Pioneer in the indoor event. This was Dwyer's second time jumping over 5 meters and his first All-American honor.
Capping the day for the Pioneers was Amber Williams in the long jump. On her third attempt, Williams jumped a school record 19-2.75 (5.86m) moving her into the number two spot. Williams' second place finish was the highest ever for a Pioneer woman. This is the eighth All-American honors for Williams. Williams will come back Saturday to compete in the Triple Jump.
Saturday's competition will begin with Kyle Whaley in the shot put and Alyssa Iserman in the high jump.
