Williams awarded WIAC Field Performer of the Meet
Amber Williams was named 2016 WIAC Women’s Field Performer of the Meet for the second year in a row.
MADISON, Wis. - Amber Williams was named 2016 WIAC Women's Field Performer of the Meet for the second year in a row.
Williams started day one of the WIAC Championships with a 5-4.5 (1.64m) clearance in the high jump. Williams attempt was good enough for second place, two spots higher than her 2015 finish.
Williams went on to win the long jump with a 19-0.5 (5.80m) leap. Williams' season best mark moved her into the top spot of the Division 3 National Performance List.
On day two, Williams began by claiming the triple jump title with a 39-4.5 (12.00m) bound. Williams continues to hold the top national mark in the triple jump.
To finish of the day of competition, Williams led off the 4x400 meter relay to a 5th place finish. The baton crossed the finish in 3:58.02, the Pioneer's best indoor time since the 2012 campaign.
Williams goes into this weekend's national meet as the top seed in both the long jump and triple jump. The NCAA Championships will be hosted by Grinnell College on Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12.
