PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- Sophomore jumper Amber Williams made history for the Pioneer Track and Field team once again following the Feb. 28 WIAC Championships held at UW-Platteville. The Milwaukee, Wis. native did so well that she garnered Field Performer of the Meet honors for her first place finishes in the long jump and triple jump events, a feat that has never been accomplished by a Pioneer.
Williams set both the 2015 WIAC record, as well new Pioneer Activity Center records in the long jump and the triple jump with bounds of 5.81 meters (19' 0.75") and 11.98 meters (39' 3.75"), respectively. This sets Williams as the front runner for both categories heading into the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
She also earned fourth place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.63 meters (4' 6").
Voting for the WIAC Performers of the Meet was conducted by coaches from around the conference.
