Women take first at Spartan Invite, men second
DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Pioneer’s men’s and women’s track and field team saw a plethora of first place victories at the Spartan Invitational in Dubuque, Iowa on Friday afternoon.

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Pioneer's men's and women's track and field team saw a plethora of first place victories at the Spartan Invitational in Dubuque, Iowa on Fridayafternoon.
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's squad finished first overall with 121.5 total points, while the Pioneer men finished in second, 27 points shy of first, with a total of 113.
Women
Krysta Parson led all runners in the 55-meter dash with a finals time of 7.55.
In the 400-meter dash it was Kelsey Reed who led the pack with a time of 1:01.41 to earn first place.
The group of 4x200-meter runners of Tess Burns, Amanda Milne, Megan Rouer and Kelly Provancher, took gold with a cumulative time of 1:48.30.
The relay team success continued for the Pioneers in the 4x400 as Briana Iwans, Rouer, Milne and Amber Williams garnered first with a time of 4:04.13.
Williams also took first in the triple jump, with a bound of 5.71 meters, which broke the facility record of 5.59 meters set earlier this year on Jan. 17.
Alyssa Iserman tied two other athletes for first place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.59 meters, with all women taking same amount of jumps.
Men
With a time of 4:18.37, Joel Walden led all one-mile runners as he earned first place.
It was Garrett Riggs and Matthew Dwyer who took first and second in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.78 meters, with Riggs taking fewer attempts.
Kyle Whaley earned first place for a toss of 16.15 meters in the shot put.
The Pioneers will return home to host the WIAC indoor championship on Feb. 27 and 28 in William's Fieldhouse.
