Track and Field teams tabbed in preseason USTFCCCA rankings
Pioneer women's track and field team ranked 15th, while the men's team ranks 22nd in the preseason USTFCCCA rankings.
NEW ORELEANS -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's and women's indoor track and field teams are ranked in the preseason edition of the 2015 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Computer Team Rankings, according to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released on Tuesday.
The women's squad is ranked 15th, and is joined by six other WIAC foes on the top-25 list. UW-La Crosse and UW-Oshkosh rank one and two, respectively while UW-Whitewater is ranked fourth. UW-Eau Claire is 13th as UW-Stout ranks 21st. UW-Stevens Point rounds out the list at 25th.
The men's team is ranked 22nd, and is one of six WIAC teams in the rankings. UWL is preseason number one as UWEC ranks second and UWW third. Stout is ranked 14th and UWO is 17th.
The national team rankings are compiled by mathematical formulae based on national descending order lists. The purpose and methodology of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots in the national team race. Rankings points do not equate with NCAA Championships team points. A full description of the rankings can be found here.
Preseason rankings will include marks from 2014, and the National Team Computer Rankings will continue to do so through the third regular-season edition.
The Pioneers open the 2015 season on Saturday as they host the UW-Platteville Open.
