Pioneers take two on final day in Tucson
TUCSON, AZ – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team claimed two more wins Thursday with a 10-0 victory over Augsburg and 5-4 win over Huntington on the final day of their spring trip in Tucson, Arizona.

In game one, UW-Platteville (6-7) topped Augsburg College (7-6) 10-0 in five innings.
The Pioneers got on the board early with a 1-0 lead in the first, but the second inning surge was too much for Augsburg to come back from especially as the Augsburg defense suffered two throwing errors, a wild pitch, and dropped fly ball in a matter of four Pioneers stepping up to the plate.
With a 5-0 lead, the Pioneers added two more in the bottom of the third followed by three more runs in the fourth for the game to be called after five innings.
Second base, Riley Kelsch, went 2-for-2 at the plate, with two RBIs, a double, and two runs scored while right fielder, Haili Cota tallied two hits, one RBI, one run scored and a stolen base.
Ashton Hoeppner (3-3) claimed the win and along the way struckout six, walked three and gave up just two hits. Augsburg's Elly Strunk (3-2) finished the day with two strikeouts, four walks, and nine hits.
In game two, the Pioneers defeated Huntington University out of Indiana 5-4 with the tying run and then walk-off run scored by pinch runner Alicia Stout and Angela Laabs when left fielder Alejandra Ochoa singled on a hard ground ball to right field with one out in the bottom of the seventh.
Huntington held a 4-1 advantage going into the bottom of the sixth, but with two outs, Ochoa, Kelsch, and Rachel Plautz singled followed by Andrea Edquist walking and Chaela West taking a hit by pitch to narrow Huntington's lead to 4-3 before the final third out of the inning.
Huntington went 0-for-3 in their lineup at the top of the seventh and set the Pioneers up for the chance of the tying run and then the win.
Abby Burns started off the day with three strikeouts, one walk, and gave up two hits before Andra O'Brien (2-1) took over and added an another two strikeouts of her own, one walk, and three hits.
Huntington's Mallorie West (2-3) tallied four strikeouts against the Pioneers, walked two, and gave up 12 hits.
The Pioneers improve to 7-7 overall and Huntington falls to 4-6 overall.
The Pioneers will travel back home and will return to action on Tuesday, March 26 at Cornell College. Game times are scheduled for 4 and 6 p.m.
