Early Eagle leads doom Pioneers
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team fell to host UW-La Crosse in two games on Friday, taking them to 3-19 on the season and 0-6 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team fell to host UW-La Crosse in two games on Friday, taking them to 3-19 on the season and 0-6 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
In the first match on Friday, the Eagles earned the lone two runs of the entire game in the second inning, taking the 2-0 victory. Pioneer junior pitcher Jess Butzen held La Crosse to just seven hits in the game, adding three strikeouts to her season total of 60.
In the second game of the evening, La Crosse gained an early 7-0 lead after the second inning before adding another run in the fourth to take the 8-0 lead.
The Pioneers responded in the fifth with two runs of their own off two singles to bring the score to 8-2, but it wasn't enough and the Eagles took the 10-2 WIAC win.
