Pioneers win low scoring affair at Central
PELLA, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team scored the lone goal of the day Saturday afternoon to defeat the Central College Dutch 1-0. The Pioneers improve to 5-2-1 on the season while the Dutch fall to 1-5-1.

PELLA, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team scored the lone goal of the day Saturday afternoon to defeat the Central College Dutch 1-0. The Pioneers improve to 5-2-1 on the season while the Dutch fall to 1-5-1.
Chances did not come easy on Saturday as Central held a slim 8-7 edge in shots with each team placing four on target.
Sophomore Lucas Godon scored the go-ahead goal off a pass from junior Jack Gentilli in the 55th minute. Central took four more shots to tie the game including two on frame in the last six minutes, but freshman keeper Seth Aiken tallied two saves to preserve the win.
Gentilli, freshman Danny Gutzwiller and Godon each recorded two shots in the match while Aiken tallied three saves.
The Pioneers will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 27 when they travel to the University of Dubuque for a 5 p.m. game.
