Miller sets program record as Pioneers shutout St. Norbert 3-0
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team shutout #4 regionally ranked St. Norbert 3-0 Tuesday night in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium. With the shutout, senior goalkeeper Nate Miller set a new program record with 21 career shutouts passing Kris Bosshart’s (2006-09) mark of 20.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team shutout #4 regionally ranked St. Norbert College 3-0 Tuesday night in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium. With the shutout, senior goalkeeper Nate Miller set a new program record with 21 career shutouts passing Kris Bosshart's (2006-09) mark of 20.
The Pioneers (6-6-2) took the 1-0 lead in the first half when freshman Jack Gentilli scored his fifth goal of the season in the 35th minute. St. Norbert (9-4-2) outshot the Pioneers 7-4 in the first half, but went into halftime with the Pioneers holding a one goal lead.
The Pioneers extended the lead to 2-0 in the 54th minute when sophomore Boston Riley assisted senior Brendan Carr with his first goal of the season. UW-Platteville would further its lead with just less than 10 minutes remaining when freshman Lorenzo Mancera found junior David Regan for his first goal of the season and the 3-0 lead.
The Green Knights held a slight 13-11 advantage in shots with seven on goal for the Pioneers and just five on frame for St. Norbert.
Miller recorded five saves in the shutout. Ben Holtzen recorded two saves with the first two goals scored against while Josh Koleske finished out the night for St. Norbert with two saves and one goal scored against.
The Pioneers will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 20 when they travel to Aurora University with game time set for 3 p.m.
