UW-Platteville and student-athletes achieve WIAC All-Academic honors

MADISON, Wis. - University of Wisconsin-Platteville student-athletes were recognized for their academic achievements and combined grade-point average among the eight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) institutions in the 2018-19 academic year. UW-Platteville, as an institution, finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.073. It marks the 19th year in a row UW-Platteville has achieved WIAC All-Academic honors. To receive All-Academic honors as an institution, the Pioneer student-athletes achieved a higher grade point average than the overall student body.

UW-Platteville names Koenig head men’s soccer coach

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Director of Athletics, Shannon James Ealy, announced Wednesday (April 24, 2019) the appointment of Samuel (Sam) Koenig as head men’s soccer coach. Koenig’s coaching experience includes three years at the NCAA Division III level with the last two years spent at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois as assistant men’s soccer coach and recruiting coordinator.

Williams Fieldhouse addition now open

Bitter earns Scholar All-America and All-North/Central Region honors

Senior Tommy Bitter was named Scholar 2nd team All-America and 1st team All-North/Central Region by the United Soccer Coaches.

Rinderknecht and Bitter earn First Team All-Region

Two Pioneers have been recognized for leading the Pioneers to an outstanding season and a second round appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Logan Rinderknecht and Tommy Bitter have been named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III All-North Region.

Rinderknecht and Bitter named All-Wisconsin Players of the Year, Enzo Fuschino named Coach of the Year

Logan Rinderknecht was named Offensive Player of the Year and Tommy Bitter was named Defensive Player of the Year for the 2018 All-Wisconsin State Team presented by United Soccer Coaches. The Pioneers had five players named to the First and Second Team All-Wisconsin.

Men’s soccer season comes to an end in the NCAA DIII Tournament

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team’s season came to an end Saturday night  in a 2-0 loss to No. 4 Calvin on Zuidema Field.

Pioneers put on a show in the second half to advance in NCAA tournament

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer program defeated the Carthage College Red Men 4-1 Friday night in the opening-round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at Calvin College in Zuidema Soccer Field. In a game of two halves, the Pioneers came back from a 0-1 deficit at the half to put away four unanswered goals in the second to seal the win and the advance to the second round.

Men's soccer is tournament bound

For the second year in a row, #18 UW-Platteville was selected as an at large bid from Pool B. UW-Platteville (12-2-3) will face Carthage College (12-8-1) Friday at 5:30 p.m. EST at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The winning team of that match up will play the winner of #3 Calvin (17-1-0) versus Greenville (15-4-2) on Saturday.

Pioneers fall to Warhawks in regular season finale

WHITEWATER, Wis. – The No. 18 University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team fell 3-0 to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in Wednesday night’s classic rival match-up. The Warhawks victory clenched the Shaymus Guinn Cup trophy which will stay in Whitewater for the year until next year’s matchup.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – On a day recognizing the seven seniors on the team, No. 18 University of Wisconsin-Platteville topped the North Central Cardinals 2-0 Saturday in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

WARTBURG, Iowa – After 110 minutes of play, no winner could be determined as the UW-Platteville Pioneers finished in a 0-0 tie with Wartburg College Tuesday night at Wartburg.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Braxton Rottinghaus’ late goal in addition to a couple of key situations on defense lifted the UW-Platteville Pioneers to a 3-2 win over the Loras Duhawks Sunday afternoon in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
