PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — Caleb Sedlacek, a senior mechanical engineering major and member of the men’s soccer team at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Division III Men’s Academic All-America team, an honor only about 30 other student-athletes in the entire country possess.
“This is a huge honor for me,” said Sedlacek. “I am just glad all my work on and off the field really paid off.”
Sedlacek, a Tiffin, Iowa native, was named to the CoSIDA All-District team earlier this year, which automatically nominated him for the All-America team.
Sedlacek started 14 of the 15 total games this season as a defender for the Pioneers, who recorded their best record since 2012 with 10-4-3, just missing an NCAA Division III National Tournament bid.
“Caleb is the quintessential student-athlete,” said head men’s soccer coach Vincenzo Fuschino. “He has had a stellar career both on the field and in the classroom.”
Sedlacek has possessed a 3.95 GPA while dedicating his time to both school and soccer since his freshman year. In his time at UW-Platteville, Sedlacek has participated in the National Society of Leadership and Success, Students Promoting Respect, Pioneer Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the American Society of Mechanical Engineering.
