Three Pioneers named to All-Wisconsin team
Three UW-Platteville men’s soccer players were named to the 2014 All-Wisconsin State team as voted on by the NCAA Division III coaches in the state. Mbodje Sarr was a first team selection, while Scott Sibik and Brad Streich earned second team recognition.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- Three University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer players were named to the 2014 All-Wisconsin State team as voted on by the NCAA Division III coaches in the state. Senior forward Mbodje Sarr was a first team selection, while junior goalkeeper Scott Sibik and senior defender Brad Streich earned second team recognition.
Sarr was named first team all-WIAC last month and led the Pioneers with eight goals and 18 points, which ranked him fourth in the WIAC. He totaled a league best four game-winning goals. He was named honorable mention all-state last year.
Sibik was named second team all-region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America last week. He was named WIAC Defensive Player of the Week twice, and led the Pioneers to six shutouts on the year. Sibik also finished among conference leaders in goals against average (1.28), save percentage (.788), saves (89) and saves per match (4.68).
Streich garnered his second all-state selection and was named first team all-WIAC last month. The senior defender was second on the team with three goals and helped UW-Platteville recorded seven shutouts.
The Pioneers ended the year 6-11-3 and fell to UW-Oshkosh in the semifinals of the WIAC Tournament.
