Four Pioneers earn All-WIAC honors
Seniors Mbodje Sarr and Brad Streich were both named first team, while junior Will Pretto and sophomore Jon Stopple garnered second team all-conference honors.
MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team received four All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) selections on Tuesday, voted by the league coaches.
Seniors Mbodje Sarr and Brad Streich were both named first team, while junior William Pretto and sophomore Jon Stopple garnered second team honors.
Sarr led the Pioneers with eight goals and 18 points, which ranked him fourth in the WIAC. He totaled a league best four game-winning goals. He was named second team all-conference last year.
Streich a defender from De Pere, Wis., was a second team all-WIAC selection in 2013 and 2012. He was second on the Pioneers with three goals and helped UW-Platteville recorded seven shutouts.
Pretto, a defender and a Madison, Wis. native, anchored the UW-Platteville defense, which tallied seven shutouts. He recorded two goals from the backline and started all 20 games
Stopple, an Elkhorn, Wis., native started in all 20 games at midfield for the Pioneers. He recorded an assist against Lakeland (Sept. 15) and scored versus Luther (Oct. 9).
Alex Bach was named to the conference All-Sportsmanship Team for his display of exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season.
