Pioneers drop tough match to Yellowjackets, 1-0.
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers (13-3-1) lost 1-0 to the Yellowjackets of UW-Superior (10-6-2).

The Yellowjackets scored quickly in the first half when Trevor LaRoche found the net on a one-timer from the right side of the net. The rest of the half resembled the first, with both teams fighting off their opponents offensive attacks. Late in the half, the Pioneers were pushing hard for the equalizing goal, but the Yellowjackets fended off each attempt.
The match was physical all the way through. The teams compiled 19 fouls and two yellow cards as the squads had to fight for every inch.
The Pioneers play again Sunday, Oct. 28 against Finlandia. The match will be Senior Day for the Pioneers. The team will honor seniors Chris Brown, Brandon Chmiel, Mark Ciszewski, and Mark Feltner.
