University of Wisconsin-Platteville senior forward Mark Ciszewski had shots hit the crossbar and post before landing one past the goalkeeper in the 81st minute to lead the home team to a 2-1 win over Grinnell College on Sunday afternoon at Pioneer Stadium.
Ciszewski, who had two goals in the 6-0 rout of Cornell on Saturday, hit the crossbar 3:38 into the second half and 10 seconds later, he had a shot hit the right post. The Germantown native got redemption when he found the back of the net in the 81st minute when he lofted a shot over the head of the Grinnell goalkeeper and to the lower right post for the go-ahead goal and eventual gamewinner.
Grinnell (1-2-1) tied up the match at 1 in the 65th minute when Kanatip Winichakul slipped past the UW-Platteville defense for a shot to the lower right corner of the goal.
UW-Platteville (4-1) got on the board early in the contest when Brandon Chmiel scored his third goal of the season after a pass from Mbodje Sarr in the 15th minute.
For the second-straight match, the UW-Platteville attack controlled the offensive end of the pitch. UW-Platteville out shot Grinnell by an 18-4 margin in the win and goalkeeper Ian Christensen made three saves.
Next, UW-Platteville will remain home as they will face Lakeland at 7 p.m., following a women's game against Coe at 5 p.m.
