Pearson, Gard Earn NABC All-District And D3hoops.com All-Region Honors
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Senior Logan Pearson of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team was named the 2023-24 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III District 9 Player of the Year and D3hoops.com Region 9 Player of the Year it was announced on Tuesday. Pioneers Head Coach Jeff Gard was recognized as both District and Region Coach of the Year from the two organizations.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Senior Logan Pearson of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team was named the 2023-24 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III District 9 Player of the Year as well as D3hoops.com Region 9 Player of the Year it was announced on Tuesday. Pioneers Head Coach Jeff Gard was recognized as both District and Region Coach of the Year from the two organizations.
Pearson, who was also named to the District 9 and Region 9 First Teams, put together a fantastic season that saw him average team-highs in points (23.1), rebounds (6.2), and assists (2.9) per game. The Kimberly native was named WIAC Player of the Year and broke the UW-Platteville single season record for total points with 692. Pearson boasted an impressive shooting split of 48.4/41.3/85.5 and scored at 30 points in a game four times, including a season-high 38 against UW-La Crosse on January 27. He collected WIAC Player of the Week honors six times and was recently named one of 10 finalists for the 2024 Jostens Trophy.
Gard guided UW-Platteville to the Elite Eight for the first time since 1999 to go along with WIAC regular season and tournament titles. The 15th-year head coach led the Pioneers to a 26-5 overall record and earned his 250th career victory in the Sweet Sixteen win over Case Western Reserve last weekend.
