Pioneers drop one to Blugolds
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Platteville men’s basketball team lost to the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds 82-63 on Monday night. With the loss the Pioneers drop to 13-8 and 6-4 in WIAC play.

The Pioneers started off well leading for almost the entire first 8 minutes of action. The Pioneers just could never find a rhythm offensively or defensively. For the game the Pioneers shot 35.9% from the field and 22.7% from the three-point line. The Blugolds shot an astonishing 55.8% from the field and 56.5% from the three-point line. The Blugolds did a great job defensively all night on the Pioneers making them make tough shots all game. The Pioneers tied the rebound battle 34-34 and forced 12 Blugold turnovers to their 9. Platteville did a great job offensive rebounding finishing the game as a team with 15 of them.
The Pioneers were led offensively by junior Carter Voelker who finished with 17 points. Sophomore Quentin Shields contributed 14 points and 6 rebounds. Senior Rob Duax chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds.
The Pioneers return to action Wednesday Feb. 6 against #4 UW-Oshkosh. The game will be at 7 p.m. on Bo Ryan Court in Williams Fieldhouse.
