Pioneers drop one to the Warhawks
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The UW-Platteville men’s basketball team lost to the UW-Whitewater Warhawks 88-80 on Wednesday night. With the loss the Pioneers drop to 11-7 and 4-3 in WIAC play.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The UW-Platteville men's basketball team lost to the UW-Whitewater Warhawks 88-80 on Wednesday night. With the loss the Pioneers drop to 11-7 and 4-3 in WIAC play.
The Pioneers and the Warhawks were tied at halftime 40-40 but in the second half the Warhawks would shoot 48% compared to 41% for the Pioneers. A career night for Melvin Brown, Jr. had 47 points for the Warhawks and 24 in the second half. The Pioneers were outrebounded by one, 33-32.
The Pioneers were led offensively by Carter Voelker who chipped in 22 points on 7-14 shooting. Robert Duax chipped in 18 points and freshmen Kyle Tuma was 5/6 shooting from the field finishing with 13 points.
The Pioneers return to action Saturday Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. on Bo Ryan Court in Williams Fieldhouse against UW-Stout.
