Hot shooting propels Pioneers to victory
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s basketball team defeated the Cardinal Stritch Wolves by a score of 95-60 on Tuesday at Williams Fieldhouse.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team defeated the Cardinal Stritch Wolves by a score of 95-60 on Tuesday at Williams Fieldhouse.
The Pioneers were able to battle to victory with a great shooting night and by out rebounding the Wolves. On the night the Pioneers shot 46.8% from the field and 40.6% from the three-point line. An eye-opening stat was the fact that the Pioneers doubled up the Wolves in the rebouding category, 48-20. Individually Platteville was led by Robert Duax who got off to a hot start shooting 7-12 in the first half including 4-6 from the three-point line. Duax would go onto finish with 18 points on the night. In his first start of the season, Alex Ranney had a well-rounded game finishing with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals. Justin Stovall provided quality minutes off the bench finishing with 14 points and a thunderous baseline dunk that woke the gym up.
With the win the Pioneers roll to 4-2 on the season and will continue play Saturday against Central (Iowa) at 5 PM on Bo Ryan Court.
