Duax's big night not enough

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The visiting Pioneers led at halftime but weren't able to contain the Storm's shooters in the 86-97 loss.
Four Pioneers finished with double-digit points; Robert Duax (32), Justin Stovall (14), Quentin Shields (12) and Justin Jarvensivu (10).
In the first half, the Pioneers shot 64 percent from the field including 4-for-6 from 3-point range. Duax scored 14 of his 32 points and Shields scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half to lead the team to their 46-41 halftime lead.
The Pioneers weren't able to score with that same efficiency in the second half and shot 44 percent from the field. Duax had 18 points (8-for-12 shooting) and Jarvensivu added six (3-for-3 shooting) in the second half to lead the Pioneers.
The Storm shot nearly 67 percent from the field and shot 7-for-8 on 3-pointers. Conor Riordan and Adam Reiter led the second half scoring with 16 and 13 points, respectively. Taylor Filbert made all four of his 3-point attempts on the night including three in the pivotal second half.
Friday, the Pioneers head to St. Louis for the 36th Annual Lopata Classic. They face Alma at 5 PM on Friday and their Saturday opponent is TBA.
