Men's Basketball downs Red Hawks

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- Boston Johnson's 24 points led the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team past Ripon College, 78-66 on Bo Ryan Court on Sunday.
Johnson was perfect in the first half, going 7-7 from the field with 18 points. The junior from Oshkosh, Wis., added six rebounds and four assists. Cory Vaassen scored 15 points, while Jim Stocki added 14 points and eight rebounds.
The Pioneers took a 33-28 lead with 5:24 left in the first half and went on to score the next six points, taking their largest lead of the half, 39-28. UW-Platteville shot extremely well in the first half, shooting 60 percent (18-30) from the field and took a 45-35 lead into halftime.
The Pioneers kept their momentum going in the second half and led by as many as 22 points, 70-48, midway through the final half. UW-Platteville cruised to a 12-point victory, 78-66.
The Pioneers continue their six-game home stand on Friday when they host Principia at 8 p.m.
