Zilbar garners Capital One Academic All-District®
UW-Platteville Jacob Zilbar was named Football Capital One Academic All-District® for the second straight year on Thursday
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Jacob Zilbar was named Football Capital One Academic All-District® on Thursday.
Zilbar made the honor squad for the second straight year, which consists of NCAA Division III student-athletes in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin, for his work on the field and in the classroom.
The senior inside linebacker from Tampa, Fla., ranks second in the conference with 76 tackles and leads the 17th-ranked Pioneers with four interceptions. Zilbar was named WIAC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 28 for his 13 tackles and his fourth interception of the season at UW-Stout (Oct. 25). He garnered 2014 Preseason all-American by D3football.com and has earned all-WIAC honors the last three seasons.
A biology major, Zilbar carries a 3.75 grade-point average and is also a three-time academic all-WIAC selection.
To be eligible for the honor squad, a player must be a sophomore or older, be a starter or significant reserve, and be carrying at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average. Nominees are then voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
