DECATUR, Ill. – Instead of postponing yet another series UW-Platteville and UW-Oshkosh moved their four game set to Millikin University this weekend. The sixteenth ranked Titans put up strong performances on the mound Saturday, and won a pair of shootouts with the Pioneers on Sunday.
UWO shutout the 'home' team 9-0 in game one, and after giving up four runs in the first inning of the nightcap, gave up just one run over the final eight innings of game two.
The bats came alive for UW-Platteville on day two, collecting a combined 29 hits and 22 runs scored in the doubleheader. As impressive as the Pioneers were at the plate the Titans outdid them by combining for 38 hits and 31 runs in 15-10 and 16-12 wins.
Connor Crotty went 7-for-12 on the weekend with four runs scored and two RBI. Collin Mormon had six hits and plated six runs in his three games played. The Pioneers went yard three times on Sunday after having only hit three homeruns all season previously. Crotty and Josh Moses went deep in the opening game and Brendon Reifsteck connected for his first career homerun in the backend of the doubleheader.
The Pioneers next travel to UW-La Crosse for two games with the Eagles on Wednesday.
