PLATTEVILLE, Wis. —The University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team fell to Edgewood College 10-7 on Wednesday in Madison, Wisconsin. The team is now an even 18-18 on the season.
Four Pioneers had two hits in the game, junior James Pavlik and senior Todd Wienkes bringing in two RBIs apiece with their hits in the loss.
After taking the 4-1 lead in the top of the fourth, the Pioneers held the lead until Edgewood scooped up five runs total from the fourth to the sixth inning, the Pioneers now down 6-4.
A senior Tanner Galeazzi double down the right field line brought in one Pioneer in the top of the seventh to shrink the gap, and senior Evan Greco flied out to right field, bringing in another Pioneer to tie the game 6-6.
In the bottom of the seventh, Edgewood had a huge inning, logging four runs to take the 10-6 lead.
The Pioneers responded with a run of their own in the top of the eighth, but the lead was too much, and Edgewood took the 10-7 win.
The Pioneers return to action on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 for their final competition of the season against UW-Oshkosh at Kendall Murray Field starting at 1 p.m. on Friday.
