21 scoreless innings, two more wins for baseball
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- As the Pioneer baseball team rolls to a six game winning streak since returning from spring break, they continued their success with a pair of victories over the University of Chicago on Saturday in a doubleheader at Kendall Murray Field, 1-0 and 5-4.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- As the Pioneer baseball team rolls to a six game winning streak since returning from spring break, they continued their success with a pair of victories over the University of Chicago on Saturday in a doubleheader at Kendall Murray Field, 1-0 and 5-4.
At the start of the first game, the Pioneers had gone 10 innings without giving up a single run. By the end of the game the Pioneers tacked on seven more scoreless innings, and it took four more in the second game before the Pioneers gave a up a run, making it 21 scoreless innings in a row.
Right fielder Evan Greco drove in the lone run as he batted 2-3 with one RBI, bringing in shortstop Casey Schroeder who went 1-3 with the only run of the game. It took six innings before the Pioneers were able to reach the board. Schroeder made it to first on a single and moved to second off a sac grounder from Colin DeBoer. He then traveled to third off a fielder's choice out from Tanner Galeazzi. Greco was able to drive in Schroeder with a single up the first base line as the Pioneers earned their first and only run of the game. After shutting out the Phoenix in the seventh inning, the Pioneers earned their fifth consecutive victory. Freshman pitcher Colton Bormann earned his second win of the season, pitching all seven innings, giving up six hits and no runs.
In the second game it took the Pioneers three innings before they were able to reach the board as they ran off to a 2-0 lead at the bottom of the third. After James Pavlik advanced to third off a Jonny Frese sac bunt, Todd Wienkes doubled down the right field line to bring in Pavlik for his only RBI of the series. Wienkes was then able to score off a single from Deboer to end the third up 2-0.
As both teams were able to score one run in the fifth inning, it was the Pioneers who racked up two scores in the sixth. The Phoenix made a run in the seventh, bringing in three runs, but it was not enough to overcome the 4-1 deficit as the Pioneers earned their sixth win in a row, sitting at 9-7 overall.
The men begin Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Wednesday with a doubleheader at UW-Stout against the Blue Deviles.
