Pioneers name Athletes of the Week
Cross Country Female Athlete of the Week – Hannah Ihlenfeldt, Fr., (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) – Ihlenfeldt finished the 6K course in 23:34 at the AAE Invite hosted by UW-Oshkosh. Ihlenfeldt's time was 33 seconds faster than her previous best. The freshman has run every race faster than her previous this season dropping one minute and 47 seconds from her first race of the season. | |
Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week – Ben Rhode, Jr., (Grafton, Wis./Cedarburg) – Rhode was the Pioneers top finisher in the 8K open at the AAE Invite hosted by UW-Oshkosh. Rhode completed the 8K course in 26:22, a 47 second personal best. Ben's time was two minutes and one second faster than his best from freshmen year. Even though Rhode competed in the non-varsity race, he managed to run the 5th fastest time for the Pioneers that day.v | |
Football Defensive Athlete of the Week – Austin Young, Jr, (Shannon, Ill./Eastland) Defensive lineman – Young had a tackle for a loss, a sack, and a forced fumble in the Pioneers’ victory over UW-River Falls. The junior tallied three tackles in the win. | |
Football Offensive Athlete of the Week – Dan Arnold, Jr. (Fargo, N.D./ Shanley) Wide Receiver – Arnold caught four passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns in the Pioneers’ 56-19 win over UW-River Falls on Saturday. The junior’s longest reception was a 75 yard touchdown grab. | |
Football Special teams Athlete of the Week – Justin Johnson, Jr. (Menomonee Falls, Wis./ Menomonee Falls) Running Back – Johnson blocked a punt in the UW-Platteville’s 56-19 road win over conference foe UW-River Falls. The resulting field position after the junior’s block punt lead to a Pioneer touchdown. | |
Men’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week – Jon Stopple, Jr., (Elkhorn, Wis.) Midfielder – In the Pioneers’ wins over Edgewood and Oshkosh this week, Stopple netted a goal in each game. He also contributed tremendously to shut down both teams' offensive ambitions, limiting Edgewood to only two shots and UW-Oshkosh to 12. Stopple has played every minute of every game this season, and is an essential link in the midfield both offensively and defensively | |
Men’s Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week – Wyatt Gilson, So., (Oconomowoc, Wis./Arrowhead) Forward – In the Pioneers’ 3-2 win over UW-Oshkosh, Gilson scored the winning goal with nine minutes remaining in the game with a shot from the left side to the far post out of the golakeeper's reach. Wyatt is a forward that comes off the bench to wreak havoc in the opposition’s defenses with his incredible speed and energy. | |
Women’s Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week – Lauren Grady, Sr., (Evergreen Park, Ill./Mother McAuley), Middle Hitter – The Pioneers went 1-3 on the week. Grady had 30 kills (2.00 K/set) and she hit .343. She totaled eight aces and eight total blocks for the week. |
