Pioneers name athletes of the week, Kelly and Bohm earn WIAC honors
Cross Country Athlete of the Week – Evan Krug, Fr. (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest) – Krug finished in 28th place at the Luther JV Cup Friday. The freshman completed the eight-kilometer course in 27:23, a one minute and 33 second personal best. Krug was the Pioneers’ fifth runner at the JV Cup and helped in the team scoring. | |
Football Offensive Athlete of the Week – Tom Kelly, Jr., (Chicago, Ill./Guerin College Prep) Quarterback – Kelly completed 17-of-21 passes for 329 yards and threw five touchdown passes in the Pioneers’ 50-26 victory at UW-Eau Claire on Nov. 7. With UW-Platteville holding a 30-26 lead early in the fourth quarter, Kelly exploded for touchdown tosses of 56, 83 and 50-yards to seal the win. His 83-yard pass to Dan Arnold is the third-longest in the WIAC this season. |

Football Defensive Athlete of the Week – Logan Emendorfer, Sr., (Platteville, Wis./Platteville) Defensive Back – Emendorfer had five tackles and an interception in the fourth quarter that lead to a touchdown for in the Pioneers' 50-26 victory over UW-Eau Claire. |

Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week – Quinn Buschbacher, Jr., (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland) Wide Receiver – Buschbacher returned six kicks for 137 yards. One of the junior's returns went for a game long 34 yards in the Pioneers’ victory over UW-Eau Claire last Saturday. |

Wrestling Athlete of the Week – Mason Bohm, Sr., (Shawano, Wis./Shawano HS) 149 pounds – Bohm went 4-0 including a pin and two technical falls en route to a first place performance at the Pioneer Invitational. He outscored all four opponents 37-3 and earned a first-period pin in the championship bout. |
