Pioneers name athletes of the week, Kelly name WIAC athlete of the week
Football Defensive Athlete of the Week – Andrew Robinson, Sr. (Arcadia, WI) Defensive End – Robinson’s effort disrupted the Buena Vista offense in the Pioneers victory over the Beavers on Saturday. Robinson recorded a sack, and two tackles for a loss. He had five hurries on the quarterback, one that lead to a UW-Platteville interception ending a Buena Vista drive. Robinson also recorded a blocked PAT. | |
Football Offensive Athlete of the Week – Tom Kelly, Jr. (Chicago, IL/Guerin Prep) Quarterback – Kelly was near perfect in the Pioneers victory over Buena Vista University. The Junior Quarterback completed 21 of 25 passes for 277 yards in his first collegiate start. On Saturday, Kelly threw more touchdowns (5) then he did incompletions (4). Kelly was able to spread the ball out with four different receivers catching touchdown passes. All of this occurred in the first half, Kelly was pulled in the second half with the score 42-6. Kelly's performance earned him WIAC Athlete of the Week. |

Football Special Team Athlete of the Week – Connor Foley, Fr. (Cedar Rapids, IA/Xavier) Punter – In his first collegiate game Foley averaged 39.7 yards on 3 punts. Foley’s longest boot traveled 55 yards. He was able to pin one punt on the three yard line. | |
Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week – Stephanie Baribeau, Jr. (Cameron, WI/Rice Lake) – The junior finished 10th in a field of 89 golfers at the weekends Carthage Invitational. Baribeau shot an opening round 84 and followed it up with an 80 to lead the Pioneers to a ninth place team finish. | |
Men’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week – Caleb Sedlacek, Sr. (Tiffin, IA/Clear Creek) Defender – Sedlacek logged 220 minutes in the Pioneers two double overtime ties against Macalester College and Hamline University this weekend. The senior was the anchor for a young but stingy Pioneers’ defense that allowed only two goals in two games. | |
Men’s Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week – Logan Rinderknecht, Fr. (Cedar Rapids, IA/Prairie) Forward – The freshman started his collegiate career off with a bang, scoring goals this weekend in each of the Pioneers two 1-1 double overtime ties against Macalester College and Hamline University. |

Women’s Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week – Yamilex Jaramillo, Jr. (Houston, TX/MacArthur) Forward – Jaramillo tallied three goals in the Pioneers’ three road games this past week. The junior scored the Pioneers second goal in the Pioneers 4-1 win over Cornell College last Tuesday. In Sunday’s 3-2 loss to 13th-ranked Aurora University, Jaramillo scored the Pioneers two goals early in the first half to put the Pioneers up 2-0. |

Women’s Volleyball Athlete of the Week – Lidia Frias, Jr. (Iola, WI/Iola-Scandinavia) Middle Hitter – The junior’s stellar performance at this weekend’s tournament hosted by UW-Platteville led the Pioneers to a 3-1 start for the 2015-16 season. On the weekend, Frias totaled 29 kills and finished with a .323 attack percentage. She also tallied two solo blocks and 11 assisted blocks. |
