PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville announced four new members who will be inducted into the 2015 Athletic Hall of Fame class. Inductees include Dan Jansen (’90), Jennifer (Hawk) Riemer (’00), Tina Davies (’00) and Wes Folk (’00).
Jansen (DeForest, Wis.) was a two-time all-American in high jump as a member of the UW-Platteville track and field team. He finished fifth at the 1989 NCAA Division III national indoor meet and eighth at the NCAA national outdoor meet in the same year. Jansen also received first team all-american national student athlete honors as well as track scholar-athlete in 1989 and 1990. He still holds the men’s high jump record after 25 years at UW-Platteville with a jump of 6-10 ¼”.
Riemer (Brodhead, Wis.) currently holds three school records after competing on both the track and field and cross country teams at UW-Platteville. She qualified for the NCAA national meet twice, and placed in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference 13 times in her four years of competing. She won the heptathlon at the WIAC meet in her final season as a Pioneer, helping her achieve the title of a three-time all-conference performer. In cross country, Riemer was a four-year letter winner and was the team’s Runner of the Year her sophomore, junior and senior years. She is a four-time UW-Platteville scholarship recipient and was a member of Alpha Lamda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies. She also served as captain of both the track and field and cross country teams.
Davies (Platteville) earned all-regional honors for her 1995 softball season with the Pioneers. She also recorded first team all-WIAC East Division honors in 1994, 1995 and 1996. The UW-Platteville Female Athlete of the Year in 1996, Davies still holds four career records within the UW-Platteville softball program: most games pitched (103), innings pitched (597.1), wins (49) and strikeouts (306). She also holds a record for most strikeouts in a season with 111 in 1996, and ranks fifth in RBIs and triples in the program’s history. She received the WIAC Softball Athlete of the Week twice, once in her 1994-95 season and again in the 1995-96 season.
Folk (Juda, Wis.) wrestled for the Pioneers from 1996-99 and was named an all-american after his third place finish at the 1998 NCAA championships. He was a three-time national qualifier and a two-time WIAC champion in the 197 weight class. He helped push his team to a second-place finish at the WIAC championships in 1999, tying the highest finish in the WIAC by any UW-Platteville wrestling team.
The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place at Velzy Commons in Ullsvik Hall on Friday, Sept. 18.
