PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Athletic Department recently partnered with a new corporate sponsor this fall, Platteville A&W.
As part of the annual sponsorship of $25,000, A&W will be sponsoring two major Athletics Department events per year. The first is the National Student-Athlete Day luncheon which recognizes the student-athlete from each sport with the highest GPA. The other will be the Athletic Honors Evening which takes place each May and has over 400 Pioneer athletes, family, and fans gather to celebrate and honor student-athletes personal and team achievements.
Mike Emendorfer, interim athletic director and head football coach stated, "The athletic department is grateful for all of our corporate sponsors and we are excited to have A&W join our team."
Opening in January of 2016, Platteville A&W has strived for excellence in the Platteville community, and will now be sharing that mission with UW-Platteville Athletics who encourage excellence to student-athletes on their respected playing fields, but also in the classroom and in the community.
Jeremy Patnaude, of Platteville A&W, stated, "Like student-athletes, we are hard-working local people and want to give back and support the community that supports us. We've seen them volunteering in the community without asking for anything in return. It is an honor for us to be able to help them with some of their needs."
In addition, A&W will also sponsor a weekly spotlight that occurs in Pioneer Athletics, Athletes of the Week. The Athletes of the Week is a recognition to one female and male student-athlete each week on the official website of the UW-Platteville Athletic Department, Letsgopioneers.com. This weekly recognition highlights the accomplishments of the student-athletes on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
"Sponsors of athletics are the reason why new opportunities are created for our student-athletes. At UW-Platteville we are continuously striving to make the student-athlete experience better, and it is support from sponsors like A&W that make this possible," said Emendorfer.
