Frequently Asked Questions
Cheer and Stunt
What do tryouts consist of?
"Tryouts are a week long process. The first four days are spent going over material, stunting, tumbling, and jumping. On the final day of tryouts on Friday, candidates are judged in front of a panel on skills (motions, stunts, tumbling, and jumps). The team will send out material that should be learned before coming to tryouts. Due to this, all interested must send an email to the captain so all the necessary material is sent in advance to insure the candidates are prepared upon arrival.
Are there any specific requirements in order to make the team?
Flyers are expected to have an extended lib with a full down dismount. Tumbling is not required, however is always appreciated and will earn candidates extra points come the final tryout. All are expected to come in with clean and tight motions as well as clean jumps.
What is the time commitment for being a member?
The team practices four days a week during football season with games on Saturdays. All team members are expected to be at practice two hours before the game starts. The team practices two to four times a week during basketball season depending when the games are, and all are still expected to be at practice two hours early.
